Chicago & North Western's class H 4-8-4 No . 3031 highballs past the depot at Morrison, Illinois, west of Sterling. Both engineer and fireman give a friendly wave to grandson, grandpa, and dad standing on the station platform. What a thrill it is to watch a fast train up close! It is Christmastime, and the boy is hoping Santa Claus will bring him an electric train "just like this one." Chicago & North Western's president, Robert Schmiege, used this scene on a Christmas card fifteen years ago. Memories never fade; here is a picture memory that is far from fading. Do you remember?
